Online Directory of Philatelists

 

Indian Philatelists’ Forum has come out with an innovative idea of creating online directory of Philatelists. This directory is intended to facilitate networking among philatelists and members of forum. 

The Directory of philatelists will be divided in to two categories. (i) Philatelists residing in India (ii) Philatelists residing abroad and collecting on any aspect of Indian Philately.

An online directory of Indian Philatelists and Overseas philatelists interested in Indian Philately with their complete profile will be available on forum’s website. Indian Philatelists’ Forum respects privacy of its members and that’s why all data will be available only to the registered members. 

Philatelists interested in India and across the world will welcome this new innovative idea of making online directory. A web based data form is now available on forum’s official website www.indianphilately.net and registration is now open.

New Stamp from India…

 

As part of the Postal week celebrations, India Post released a Souvenir Sheet of Rs 20 on 12th October 2012 to commemorate Philately Day.

This  Souvenir Sheet has been issued  to commemorate philately, and mark the celebration of Philately Day by India Post. This Souvenir sheet depicts the evolution of Indian postal system from ‘Dak Harkara’ to ‘Air Mail’ and show-cases two iconic postage stamps issued in pre and post independence era. The first stamp ’The inverted Head Four Annas’ was issued in 1854. It was one of the world’s first multicoloured stamps. The second stamp depicted in the Souvenir Sheet is one among the three stamps of Jai Hind series issued after independence. This stamp was issued in 1947 and depicts the national emblem of India.

On 18th October, Mr  Nikhil Mundra, noted Philatelist  is going to deliver an invited talk about Gandhiji and Stamps titled "Bapu and Philately: Spreading the Message of Peace" at the India International Centre, Delhi. This is part of a week-long series of events titled "Celebrating Bapu: Unseen faces, Unheard voices". It is being inaugurated by Shri Fali Nariman, one of the senior-most lawyers of India.

International seminar on Philately at Malmo

I have attended the International Seminar from  27 to 29 April at Malmo.The main purpose to conduct the Seminar was to educate Collectors & Juries with Exhibiting Techniques.

We had 7 different Speakers and they all are collectors as well and achieved Gold, Large Gold or Grand pre in their exhibiting area....All together it was wonderful time with mostly all of the Veteran and Internationally well known philatelic personalities.

It was my pleasure that I was allowed to attend the Seminar . There were  2 Indians my self and a young beginner from Chennai,  Vijay Ananad.
